THE FIRST PUSH FOR RACIAL EQUALITY IN AMERICALife was tough in 1930's America for everyone, and with segregation still in practice, people of color had it a lot worse. Something needed to change, and a group of strong-willed, Mexican immigrant parents whose children had been denied entry into a public school because of their color decided something. They would not be subjected to the injustice known as segregation. They fought for something seemingly insignificant at first, but it would grow into something bigger. The parents and the kids broke physical barriers at first, and then broke a significant cultural barrier. Although this "incident" is relatively forgotten and overshadowed, it made an impact.
